Marilyn Wilton

September 6, 1936 - January 14, 2017 Marilyn Lee Miller Wilton passed away peacefully in Pasadena on January 14, 2017 at the age of 80 from complications of Alzheimer's disease. Marilyn was a long-term Trailblazers member - joining in December 1995.

Marilyn also served six terms on the Trailblazers Board of Directors - first in 1997 as 3rd Vice-President, again in 1998 through 2000 and 2002 as 2nd Vice-President, and as Co-Treasurer in 2003.

Marilyn was born in Santa Monica and had an idyllic childhood growing up in the Pacific Palisades and Encino. She is an alumnus of the University of California at Berkeley and a graduate of the Wright McMahon Secretarial School in Beverly Hills, which led to her rewarding decades-long career as personal executive assistant to a scion of the Doheny family. She also did some modeling and interior design work. Marilyn enjoyed a life of adventure and travel, by air, land and sea, with her beloved husband Hugh Wilton, Jr., who predeceased her in 1991. An affinity for square dancing led her to William "Bill" Garrett, her boyfriend since 1994.

The family is especially grateful to Bill for all the care and companionship he provided to Marilyn, particularly in her last year.

Marilyn's social activities over the years included memberships in the Westport Beach Club in Playa Del Rey and the California Yacht Club in Marina Del Rey, as well as volunteering with the Assistance League. Staying in touch with her many friends was a great source of enjoyment, especially those from her high school, due to her continuous involvement in planning the University High School Reunions (Class of Summer 1954).

Marilyn will also be remembered for her infamous "Christmas Letter", which was mailed to no less than 350 friends and acquaintances around the globe.

Marilyn is survived by her boyfriend, William Garrett; her brother, Lawrence Miller (Gianna); her three stepsons: Hugh Wilton III (Suzanne), Bruce Wilton (Karen), Gregory Wilton (Cheryl); nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Donations in memory of Marilyn Wilton can be made to the Living Free Animal Sanctuary in Mountain Center, California,
