Barry presented an interesting mix of calls from unfamiliar positions and challenging applications of concepts: (1) from twin diamonds with all infacing points -- Team Up (2) from a facing tandem diamond -- Trade The Deucey (3) from a facing tandem diamond -- Scatter Circulate (4) from a magic column -- Scatter Circulate (5) from a 1/4 box -- 3 By 1 Checkmate (some C-4 dancers felt this call was controversial) (6) from a Siamese ocean wave with tandem centers -- Inside Triangles Exchange The Triangles (7) from same-hand point-to-point diamonds -- Inside Triangles Exchange The Triangles (8) from parallel two-faced lines -- Stable Wheel & Deal (9) from a formation formed from outfacing lines and having the belles Quarter Right -- Checkerboard Single Rotary Spin (10) from parallel right-hand ocean waves -- Checkerbox Circle To A Wave (11) from a formation formed from infacing lines and having the beaus Face Out -- Initially Concentric, Tally Ho (12) from a tidal wave -- Initially Concentric, Explode The Top (13) from a 1/4 tag -- Finally Tandem, Scoot Chain Thru To A Wave (14) from a formation formed from a completed double pass thru and having the ends Quarter Right -- Own The Centers, Expand The Column by Snap The Lock (15) from a completed double pass thru -- Own The Beaus, Leads Cast Back by Fancy (16) from a formation formed from magic columns with right-hand ends and boys as #1 and #2 and having the boys Quarter Left -- Own The Boys, Link Up by Leads Latch On (17) from a formation formed from parallel ocean waves and having the ends Press Back -- Split Phantom Waves Counter Rotate (18) from a formation formed from parallel ocean waves and having every one Press Ahead -- Split Phantom Columns Polly Wolly (19) from outfacing lines -- Split Phantom Lines Vertical Tag Chain Thru (20) sequence: from a squared set --
Heads Pass Out; Split Phantom Columns Touch 1/4 & Cross; Split Phantom
Lines Twist The Line; Press Ahead; Triple Box Split Trade Couple Up; Triple
Box Swing Thru Twice
Barry concentrated on working with calls that can be fractionalized in halves: (1) from parallel ocean waves -- 1/2 Spin Chain Thru (2) from parallel right-hand ocean waves -- 1/2 Remake (3) from a facing diamond with right-hand centers -- 1/2 Remake (4) from parallel ocean waves, parallel single-file columns, or a completed double pass thru -- 1/2 Zoom (5) from a couple -- 1/2 Wheel Around (6) from an ocean wave -- 1/2 Mix (7) from a thar -- All Eight 1/2 Mix (8) from a 1/4 tag -- 1/2 Scoot Chain Thru (9) from infacing lines -- 1/2 Load The Boat (10) from outfacing lines with the boys as the right-hand couples -- As Couples 1/2 Boys Rollaway (11) from parallel inverted lines with outfacing ends -- Do the Last 1/2 of a Zoom (12) from outfacing lines -- Do the Last 1/2 of Load The Boat Later Barry introduced the higher-level "Sandwich Concept" where one call is inserted between the first and last half of another call. However, rather than using that name, he used wording that would be appropriate for our A-2 dancers. Since there is no recommended way to word "Interrupt" calls, different callers word these calls in different manners. Unfortunately, some of the dancers had problems processing some of the calls in the way Barry presented them. After a couple of tips with this concept, one of the dancers suggested a different way to word these calls so that they would be easier for more dancers to process. Barry agreed that this might be a better way. I will use the suggested wording to present the calls he used: (1) from infacing lines -- Interrupt Right & Left Thru After 1/2 With Explode The Line (2) from infacing lines -- Interrrupt Do Sa Do After 1/2 With Explode The Line (3) from a tidal wave -- Interrupt Explode Wave After 1/2 With Box The Gnat (4) from parallel ocean waves -- Interrupt Mix After 1/2 With Split Circulate (5) from a trade by with boys as the ends -- Interrupt Slide Thru After 1/2 With Spin The Windmill Right (6) from a 1/4 Tag -- Interrupt Scoot Chain Thru After 1/2 With Diamond Circulate (7) from a left-hand 3/4 box -- Interrupt Acey Deucey After 1/2 With Explode The Line (8) from parallel right-hand ocean waves -- Interrupt Scoot & Weave After 1/2 With Left Remake (9) from parallel ocean waves -- Interrupt Scoot & Weave After 1/2 With Acey Deucey (10) from a completed double pass thru -- Interrupt Zoom After 1/2 With Acey Deucey (11) from outfacing lines -- Interrupt Wheel Around After 1/2 With Trade Circulate (12) from a completed double pass thru -- Interrupt Wheel Around After 1/2 With As Couples Wheel & Deal (13) from parallel ocean waves -- Interrupt Outroll Circulate After 1/2 With Triple Trade (14) from infacing
lines -- Interrupt Load The Boat After 1/2 With Explode The Line
Barry used some of the calls and ideas from the workshop session, but also include a few more interesting calls: (1) from a double pass thru -- Checkmate The Column (2) from parallel two-faced lines -- Trail Off (3) from parallel two-faced lines -- Trade Circulate 1 & 1/2 (4) from parallel two-faced lines -- Finish Motivate (5) from a 3/4 tag -- Horseshoe Turn
This was primarily a dance session. Some of the more interesting calls Barry used involved concepts or call modifications: (1) from infacing lines -- As Couples Single Circle To A Wave (2) from infacing lines -- Turn Thru To A Wave (3) from a completed double pass thru -- Stretch Zoom (4) from a facing diamond with left-hand centers -- Do Last 1/2 Of A Remake (5) from parallel right-hand ocean waves -- Finish Remake (6) from parallel ocean waves -- Finish Relay The Deucey (7) from parallel ocean waves -- Finish Linear Cycle (8) from parallel ocean waves -- Finish Scoot Chain Thru (9) from 3&1 lines with outfacing ends -- Finish Load The Boat (10) from a formation formed from infacing lines and having the centers Face In -- Finish Percolate (11) from a tidal wave -- Finish Tally Ho (12) from a formation formed from magic columns and having the ends Hinge -- Finish Linear Action (13) from a Siamese right-hand two-faced line with tandem centers -- Siamese Tag The Line; (14) from outfacing lines -- Triple Box Chase Right & Cross (15) form a formation formed from twin
diamonds and having the centers Lockit -- Concentric Cycle & Wheel
This was also primarily a dance session. Some of the more challenging calls included: (1) from parallel ocean waves -- Rims Trade Cross Back (2) from parallel single-file columns -- Dodge Shazam (3) from a Siamese same-hand box with the tandems as leaders -- Transfer & Centers Kick Off (4) from a formation formed from parallel single-file columns and having the centers Peel & Trail -- Hocus Pocus (5) from outfacing lines -- Once Removed Right Roll To A Wave (6) from a formation formed from a tidal inverted line and having the centers of each side Single Wheel -- Each "Diamond" Work Solid, Single Wheel (7) from a formation formed from magic columns and having everyone 1/2 Magic Column Circulate -- Checkpoint Walk & Dodge by Crossfire (8) from a formation formed from a double pass thru and having the centers Pass The Sea and then the very centers Hinge -- Checkpoint Counter Rotate by Hocus Pocus (9) from parallelogram outfacing lines
with the left couple of each line in the center box -- Parallelogram As
Couples Shakedown
