Friday C-3A Dance

George presented a number of  interesting calls and applications of concepts:

(1) from a right-hand butterfly -- Butterfly Triple Play

(2) from a formation formed from a completed double pass thru and having the ends Quarter In -- Split Catch Flip Back 4

(3) from a mini-wave static square -- All 8 Recoil

(4) from facing twin diamonds -- Diamond Circulate The Lock (all the dancers execute the Lockit, not just the new center 4)

(5) from a 4x4 formation consisting of two infacing lines separated by two phantom lines -- Split Phantom Lines Grand Chain 8

(6) from a right-hand tidal wave -- Once Removed Here Comes The Judge

(7) from a tidal wave -- Initially Concentric Lock The Hinge

(8) from a formation formed from parallel ocean waves and having the centers Counter Rotate -- Cross Concentric Recoil

(9) from parallel two-faced lines with boys as the lead centers and trailing ends -- Own The Boys Drift Apart by Switch The Wave

(10) from a same-hand siamese diamond with the points as couple -- Checkpoint Single Hinge by Exchange The Triangles.

Saturday A-2 Workshop

George presented material that proved to be challenging to many of the Challenge dancers as well as the Advanced dancers:

(1) from parallel single-file columns -- Grand Scoot & Weave (many tried to execute this as if they were doing the 1/4 tag version which is actually 2/3 of a Scoot Back followed by the Weave)

(2) from a grand two-faced line -- As Couple Recycle

(3) from a static square -- All 8 Recycle

(4) from a thar -- All 8 Recycle

(5) from a thar -- All 8 Switch To A Diamond

(6) from a thar -- Crossover Circulate

(7) from crossed single 8 chain thrus -- All 8 Pass & Roll

(8) from infacing lines -- As Couple Beaus Walk, Belles Dodge

(9) from a tidal wave -- Quarter In

(10) from parallel ocean waves -- Finish Motivate

(11) from parallel single-file columns -- Finish Coordinate

(12) from parallel 3-and-1 lines with infacing ends and the the centers in right-hand mini-waves -- Coordinate.

He also taught the C-1 concept "Anything To A Wave" where dancers execute the "anything" call but eliminate the last Step Thru or Extend:

(1) from facing lines -- Square Thru To A Wave, Square Chain Thru To A Wave, do centers part of Load The Boat To A Wave

(2) from parallel ocean waves -- Scoot Back To A Wave, Scoot Chain Thru To A Wave;

(3) from parallel single-file columns -- Transfer The Column To A Wave.

Saturday A-2 dance

While this was a more relaxed session, George still managed to throw in some interesting calls:

(1) from a tidal wave -- Spin The Windmill But The Ends Single Wheel

(2) from a double pass thru -- As Couples Dixie Style To A Wave

(3) from a two-faced line -- Switch The Line (George cued this C-1 call which has the same definition  as Switch The Wave)

(4) from infacing lines -- Crossover Circulate and 1/2 Crossover Circulate.  Note that there is disagreement among callers over whether it is proper to call 1/2 Crossover Circulate from facing lines; those who believe it is proper want the belles to do their part of a Crossover Circulate and the beaus to remain stationary.

Sunday C-1 dance

This dance session proved to be quite enlightening.  Several calls proved to be a challenge to not only to the C-1 dancers, but also to some of the higher-level dancer:

(1) from a thar -- All 8 Flip The Diamond

(2) from an 8 chain thru -- Cross Chain & Roll But Turn The Star 3/4

(3) from phantom waves formed from parallel right-hand ocean waves with girls as the infacing ends and adjacent centers and having the girls Hinge -- In Phantom Boys Inroll Circulate as the Girls Outroll Circulate

(4) from phantom waves formed from parallel inverted lines with outfacing ends and having the right-hand end and adjacent center Hinge -- Start Phantom, Tally Ho

(5) from phantom waves formed from parallel right-hand ocean waves and having the infacing ends and adjacent center Hinge -- Phantom Switch To A Diamond, Phantom Outpoint Triangle Circulate (ends in a thar).

George also ntroduced the C-2 "Anything" concept.  This concept is used with calls defined with the first part as an "All 8 Circulate"; the Circulate is replaced with the "anything" call.  If the "anything" call includes "Circulate" in the name the "Circulate" is omitted.  Some calls presented:

(1) from parallel ocean waves -- Inroll Motivate and Trade Motivate

(2) from a tidal two-faced line -- Crossfire Motivate

(3) from parallel single-file columns -- Split Coordinate.

This dance session was a good review of calls and concepts. .  Some of the noteworthy calls included the following:

(1) from phantom waves -- All 8 Counter Rotate

(2) from parallel ocean waves -- Hubs Trade Back Motivate and Alter & Circulate Motivate

(3) from twin diamonds -- Funny Interlocked Inpoint Triangle Circulate.

PS: Trailblazers was dark for the July 4th weekend.  I hope that you found an enjoyable way to celebrate the anniversary of our nation's independence and that you took some time to reflect on how lucky we are to live in a country where we are free to pursue the activities we enjoy so much.
