Saturday A-2 Workshop

Rob & CJ chose the type of material that has made them so popular with our Advanced dancers.  They reviewed several calls using the "Ocean Wave Rule", calls starting from ocean waves or tidal waves which are usually called from facing couples or facing lines:

(1) from right-hand tidal wave -- Load the Boat

(2) from a right-hand ocean wave -- Square Chain Thru

(3) from a right-hand ocean wave -- Square Thru

(4) from a left-hand ocean wave -- Left Square Thru.  Although T-bones are officially on the C-1 list, their use at A-2 in Southern California is quite prevalent and Rob & CJ workshopped quite a few T-bone calls: from  a T-bone 2x4 formation with two diagonal opposites as leaders and two diagonal opposites as trailers in each 2x2 -- Split Circulate; All 8 Circulate; Scoot Back; Scoot Back & Roll; Follow Your Neighbor; Split Counter Rotate; Split Counter Rotate & Roll; Peel Off; Trail Off; Peel & Trail.

(5) from parallel ocean waves -- Scoot Back & Roll

(6) from a left-hand 1/4 Tag -- Chain Reaction

They still had time to present some more material:

(1) from twin and point-to-point diamonds -- Split Counter Rotate

(2) from parallel ocean waves -- Pass & Roll, Pass & Roll Your Neighbor

(3) from parallel two faced lines and parallel ocean waves -- Peel Off

(4) from parallel ocean waves -- Outroll Circulate 1 & 1/2

Saturday A-2 dance

Rob & CJ presented a very nice dance.  Although they didn't use much of the earlier workshop material, they still presented some calls that required the dancers to remain alert:

(1) from an eight chain thru -- Eight Chain 1 & 1/2 and Eight Chain 2 & 1/2

(2) from an eight chain thru -- Square Thru but on the 3rd hand, Inroll Circulate

(3) from a tidal two-faced line -- Cast Off 3/4

(4) from a tidal line -- As Couples Bend the Line

(5) from a left-hand 1/4 Tag -- Ping Pong Circulate

Sunday C-1 dance

The Sunday C-1 dance session was primarily a dance, but calls were workshopped when needed:

(1) from a static square -- Heads (or Sides) Swing Thru & Plenty

(2) from a 1/4 tag -- Scoot & Plenty, Replace the two Split Circulates with one Split Counter Rotate

(3) from facing twin diamonds with right-hand points -- Ends go as you are, Plenty

(4) from concentric diamonds -- Concentric Flip the Diamond

(5) from tidal inverted lines -- Stretch Step & Fold

(6) from parallel ocean waves -- 1/3 Recycle

(7) from a trade by -- Left Tally Ho

(8) from fully offset right-hand stars -- Phantom Stretch Recycle.

Sunday C-2 Dance

Since most of the C-2 dancers primarily need floor time, the C-2 Sunday dance was primarily presented as a dance covering most, if not all, of the list without much in the way of unusual positioning. However, there was one call that I found to be noteworthy: from parallel general lines -- Vertical Once Removed Touch 1/4.
