A-2 Workshop | A-2 Dance | C-1 Dance | C-2 Dance | C-3A Dance Dave had a theme for the majority of
the weekend: the "Yo-Yo Concept" where the first arm turn half in the specified
call is replaced by a Cast Off 3/4.
Dave used the theme from parallel waves, Yo-Yo Relay the Top; and from parallel columns, Yo-Yo Spin Chain the Line and Yo-Yo Relay the Shadow. Other interesting material included from facing diamonds, Exchange the Diamonds; from a double pass thru formation, Once Removed Split Square Chain the Top to a Wave; from a tidal wave, Initially Once Removed Wheel & Deal Motivate; from parallel right-hand two-faced lines, Own the Leads Keep Busy by Wheel Thru & Roll; and from infacing lines Beaus Bias Circulate by Rollaway. Top | A-2 Workshop | A-2 Dance | C-1 Dance | C-2 Dance | C-3A Dance One of the first sequences Dave used during the first tip was "Scoot Chain Thru Twice, Triple Trade after each one". This took down most of the floor the first time he tried it. It seems that many of the Challenge dancers had more trouble with this than the Advanced dancers. For most of this session, Dave concentrated
on the Yo-Yo concept. This included from parallel two-faced lines,
parallel waves and twin diamond, Acey Deucey; from parallel ocean waves,
Relay the Deucey; from right-hand parallel waves, Swing Thru & 1/4
Thru; from infacing lines, Turn Thru; from right-hand or left-hand diamonds,
Crossfire; and from a static square, Heads or Sides Split Square Chain
Thru.
Top | A-2 Workshop | A-2 Dance | C-1 Dance | C-2 Dance | C-3A Dance Dave continued using some of the Yo-Yo calls he used earlier. He also called Finish a Right & Left Thru, Finish a Half Breed Thru, Finish a Motivate. Most of the dancers had little problem with these or with Chain Reaction from a left-hand 1/4 tag. However, they did have some problems with Wheel & Deal & 1/4 More from a tidal line, a tidal two-face line, and parallel two-faced lines. Others had some problems with the following: from a right-hand ocean wave with same sex adjacent, "Recycle, Boys twice, Girls Veer Left". Top | A-2 Workshop | A-2 Dance | C-1 Dance | C-2 Dance | C-3A Dance Dave continued with the Yo-Yo concept, using many of the same calls he used on Saturday, but he also added from parallel ocean waves, Alter the Wave, Spin Chain & Exchange the Gears, Crossfire, and Mix. He reviewed Cross Roll to a Line and Switch the Line from various lines and Alter the Wave from two-faced lines. Also from various lines he worked on replacing the last Cast Off 3/4 in Tally Ho with various calls. An interesting opening from one of his sequence was as follows: "Heads Circle By 1/4 by 1/4; in your own box Sides Swap Around, Heads Split Counter Rotate". Top | A-2 Workshop | A-2 Dance | C-1 Dance | C-2 Dance | C-3A Dance Although this was quite noteworthy, I was unable to recall much of it for my review. This is because I was quite busy working to help C-2 dancers struggle through a challenging dance. The material was a thorough use of most of the C-2 calls and concepts. The call that proved most difficult for some dancers was from a parallelogram, formed from a Press Ahead from parallel columns, Parallelogram Counter Rotate. In all, this session was a perfect opportunity for C-2 dancers to evaluate their proficiency at this level.
