A-2 Workshop | A-2 Dance | C-1 Dance | C-2 Dance | C-3A Dance John brought a lot of interesting and challenging material. Many of the calls that caused problems on the floor were actually from lower levels: from 3-and-1 lines with the ends facing in and the centers holding left hands, Coordinate; from a tidal two-faced line, Stretch Cast Off 3/4; from twin diamonds, Concentric Recycle; from a completed double pass thru, Turn to a Line twice; from two-faced lines, Fascinating Cross Roll to a Wave; and from offset infacing lines, Offset Lines Load the Boat and Offset Lines Chisel Thru. Although this one was not particularly hard, it got a good laugh: from a right-hand 1/4 tag with boys in the center wave, Boys work 2/3 and All 8 Recycle and the Boys Roll. John also used some interesting C-3A calls: from infacing lines, Own the Ends Square the Bases by Chisel Thru; from a formation formed by having the centers of right-hand columns Counter Rotate, Centers Initially Tandem All Linear Action; from twin Z's, Initially Z Peel Chain Thru; from 3-and-1 lines with the centers facing out and the ends with their right hands to the center, Own the Mini-Wave Dancers Stretch 2/3 Recycle by Link Up; from a formation formed by having the centers of outfacing lines Single Wheel, Center 6 Turn to a Line; and from offset twin diamonds, Diamond Chain Thru. The last call was surprisingly difficult for many of the dancers. The call that proved to be the most
difficult for most of the floor and caused the most discussion was from
right-hand interlocked diamonds, Stable Siamese Diamond Circulate.
The correct ending formation is back-to-back couples perpendicular to and
between outfacing tandems. However, most dancers executed a Siamese
Stable Diamond Circulate which ends in a right-hand 3/4 line.
Top | A-2 Workshop | A-2 Dance | C-1 Dance | C-2 Dance | C-3A Dance At this session John covered a large amount of material. He worked the All 4 Couples/All Eight concept, in particular All 8 Peel & Trail and All Peel the Top. From T-boned boxes he worked Trail Off, Follow Your Neighbor, and Peel the Top. Other calls covered included from double pass thru and completed double pass thru formations, Checkmate; from ocean waves, 1/2 Outroll Circulate; from various formations Right/Left Roll to a Wave; from a facing diamond, Crossfire; from a facing diamond with centers holding right hands, Remake; and from T-boned couples with all dancers facing out with right hands to the center and from T-boned couples with two couples facing out with right hands to the center and two couples facing in with left hands to the center, 1/2 Crossover Circulate. Top | A-2 Workshop | A-2 Dance | C-1 Dance | C-2 Dance | C-3A Dance While this session was primarily a dance, John did have to workshop some calls. First, he had to review 1/2 Rollaway (with a Half Sashay). This lead to, from a tidal line, 1/2 Rollaway 3 times; and from infacing and outfacing lines, As Couples 1/2 Rollaway. Other calls covered included from infacing lines, 3/4 Load the Boat; from infacing lines with same-sex couples, As Couples Star Thru; and from infacing lines with same-sex couples with the boys on the left and the girls on the right, As Couples Double Star thru. Top | A-2 Workshop | A-2 Dance | C-1 Dance | C-2 Dance | C-3A Dance Sunday C-1 Dance John kept the dancers challenged by reviewing concepts. He started with the Tandem concept including Tandem Flutter Wheel from a double pass thru. He then continued with the Concentric concept: from single columns and magic columns, Concentric Trail Off; from infacing lines Concentric Swap Around; from two-faced lines, Concentric Zig-Zag and Concentric Zag-Zig; from a tidal wave, Concentric Single Wheel; and from outfacing lines, Concentric Shakedown. The next concept was the Stretch concept: from a tidal two-faced line, Stretch Cast Off 3/4 and Stretch Chain Down the Line; from a tidal wave, Stretch Ah So and Stretch Switch the Wave; and from an eight chain thru, Stretch Flutter Wheel. Appropriately enough, John finished with the Finish concept: from various formations, Finish a Half Breed Thru, Finish Recycle, Finish Slide Thru and Finish Square Chain Thru. Top | A-2 Workshop | A-2 Dance | C-1 Dance | C-2 Dance | C-3A Dance This session was primarily a dance. John continued to work some of the concepts he used in the C-1 session. One call that required a little review was Stretch Turn to a Line from various lines. Top | A-2 Workshop | A-2 Dance | C-1 Dance | C-2 Dance | C-3A Dance.| Page updated: Aug 16, 2004 |
