A-2 Workshop | A-2 Dance | C-1 Dance | C-2 Dance | C-3A Dance Rob & CJ came well-prepared with material stressing concepts. Unfortunately, I can only report a small portion of what they called. From right-hand tidal wave they called Initially Once Removed Wheel the Sea, and Initially Cross Concentric Swing Thru; from right-hand parallel ocean waves, Initially Cross Concentric 1/4 Mix; from infacing lines with the girls as the left-hand couple, Own the Boys Linkup by Vertical 1/2 Tag; from an eight chain thru formation with boys as the ends, Own the Boys Cross Chain Thru by Expand the Column; from outside left-hand phantom columns, Split Phantom Column Stretch Vertical Tag the Line; from infacing right-hand clumps, Split Phantom Column Own the Leads Link Up by Keep Busy; from parallel left-hand ocean waves with the girls facing in, Own the Girls Bias Circulate by Left Shakedown; from an eight chain thru formation, Finally 1/2 Crazy Right & Left Thru; from parallel ocean waves with girls as centers, Initially Girls Patch the Boys; from infacing lines, Once Removed Stable Pass the Ocean; from parallel ocean waves, Split Phantom Wave Stretch Explode the Wave. One of the more deceptively difficult calls was Initially Twice Recycle from a tidal wave. Top | A-2 Workshop | A-2 Dance | C-1 Dance | C-2 Dance | C-3A Dance The workshop was a revelation to many of the dancers as to just how interesting Advanced can be. They reviewed Zig-Zag and Zag-Zig; Crossfire from a facing diamond; and All 8 Circulate and Follow Your Neighbor from T-bones. They also reviewed fractionalization of calls: 1/2 of a Mix, 3/4 of a Mix, 3/4 Pass & Roll, 7/8 Pass & Roll, 3/4 Load the Boat, Eight Chain 1/2 and Eight Chain 3 & 1/2. They also explained and how to "Finish" a call; do all but the first part of the call: 1/2 Breed Thru, Right & Left Thru, Load the Boat, Pass & Roll, Eight Chain 2, Eight Chain 3, Mix, Swing Thru, Pass the Ocean, and Motivate. Of special interest were two calls from infacing lines: do the first part as Couples, Pass the Ocean and do the last part as Couples, Pass the Ocean. I should mention that several of the dancers that were at this session commented either at the session or in the weeks to follow that they felt that this was the best Trailblazers workshop session that they had ever attended. Top | A-2 Workshop | A-2 Dance | C-1 Dance | C-2 Dance | C-3A Dance The fun continued at the dance session. Most dancers had only minor problems with Chain Reaction from a left 1/4 tag formation and Checkmate the Column from double pass thru and completed double pass thru formation. From parallel right-hand columns with boys as #1 & #2, Transfer & Slide Thru proved to be a little tricky. The calls that caused the most problems were As Couples Turn & Deal from a left-hand tidal two-faced line and Left Fan the Top from facing couples. Top | A-2 Workshop | A-2 Dance | C-1 Dance | C-2 Dance | C-3A Dance Rob & CJ reviewed Interrupts, Interlocked Triangles, and modifications of Alter the Wave. Some other interesting calls were from static square, Heads Circle By 1/4 by All Little; and from parallel ocean waves, Motivate but Replace the Cast Off 3/4 with a Flip Back. Also, Left Fan the Top from facing couples proved to be just as disconcerting for the Challenge dancers as it was for the Advanced dancers. Top | A-2 Workshop | A-2 Dance | C-1 Dance | C-2 Dance | C-3A Dance The session was again primarily a dance. Calls that were briefly reviewed included Once Removed Cut the Diamond, Truck and 1/2 Truck, and the Disconnected Concept.
