who often call together as a team, Trailblazers has rarely had a weekend
where two callers have teamed up to call for us. This weekend was
one of those rare weekends featuring Lynette Bellini and Vic Ceder.
Lynette called the C-3A session. She used a wide variety of calls and used quite a few concepts. Some of the more interesting things she called included Reverse Order Travel Thru from right-hand two-faced lines, Outer 6 Quick 2/3 Recycle from a 1/4 Tag, Initially Once Removed Couple Up from columns, and Split Phantom Columns Fancy from columns, and Parallelogram Split Phantom Columns Fancy from parallelogram columns. One C-2 call that Lynette used caused quite a bit more confusion than I would have expected was Grand Chain Eight With The Flow from a right-hand tidal wave. Some of the starting positions included infacing lines, outfacing lines, diamonds, tidal waves and tidal two-faced lines. Other calls that were workshopped included Peel Off, Trail Off, and Extend. These included Turn & Deal from left-hand ocean waves, Chain Reaction from a left-hand 1/4 tag, and calls from various T-bone formations. They also called several "do your part" combination calls. The floor handled these calls surprisingly well. Top | A-2 Workshop | A-2 Dance | C-1 Dance | C-2 Dance | C-3A Dance Sunday C-1 Dance Lynette and Vic shared calling duties for the Sunday C-1 session. Both callers were on stage for the first tip. Lynette called the first sequence. Vic said that he didn't like her music. Since both callers were using MP3's he quickly chose another song. As the callers continued to alternate sequences, they also continued to select new songs. The rest of the C-1 session continued in a fairly light-hearted manner. Although the material was not particularly hard, I noticed that many dancers seemed to have problems with quite a few familiar calls; it was almost as if they were dancing to a phantom third caller. Everybody got a good laugh during the last tip when Vic paid tribute to Lynette with his rendition of "Itsy-Bitsy, Teeny-Weeny, Yellow Polka-Dot Bellini". Top | A-2 Workshop | A-2 Dance | C-1 Dance | C-2 Dance | C-3A Dance Because Lynette had to catch an early flight home, Vic called the C-2 session solo, or so we thought. I think the phantom caller stayed around to accompany him. Again the material presented wasn't that difficult or strange, but one wouldn't know that from watching the dancers. I suspect that a lot of the problems in both sessions arose from the festive mood of the day and the dancers simply did not muster up the concentration that is usually required. Despite the problems, everyone seemed to have a great time. Top | A-2 Workshop | A-2 Dance | C-1 Dance | C-2 Dance | C-3A Dance | Page updated: Jul 15, 2004 |
