Gail Bailey

Gail passed away of heart failure brought on by a week long battle with pneumonia on April 5, 2010.

Gail learned to play bridge in Japan and started playing duplicate bridge when she moved to California.  She became a Life Master in 1975 as a result of her coming in second in the Open Pairs at a Regional tournament.  She met Charles at the bridge table and in 1977 they moved in together.  Gail also loved dancing.  Since she couldn't muster asking Charles to go to Arthur Murray, she suggested they start square dancing, a passion they would both enjoy and excel in.  In 1979 they went to an East meets West weekend, where they realized that square dancing could be as challenging as bridge, and they were just starting.  They joined a tape group, joined PACE & Trailblazers and got into Challenge Square Dancing. Over the next few years they advanced to the highest level - C4.

In 1986 Gail and Charles' square dance friends organized a cruise to Alaska.  Both of them enjoyed it so much that it was the first of many for the next 23 years. In 1988 she married Charles after a long engagement.  Their last cruise was in 2009 where they started 23 years earlier.

In 2002 Gail retired to pursue her desire to volunteer as an
Ombudsman for the Orange County Council on Aging.  Charles and Gail loved the arts - they had season tickets for the Broadway
Musical Series at the Orange County Performance Center and the
Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center.  She also loved going to
the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, where she and Charles
were founding members.
