Rob
began square dancing with the Stanford Quads in 1990. He was joined
by his wife, CJ Smith, the following year. In 1992 they both took
their first caller's school from Bill Davis and Kip Garvey. Since
then, Rob has taught classes at all levels from Mainstream through C-3A,
and for many years called or co-called for several local C-1 and C-2 clubs.
Due to an increasingly busy lifestyle, he currently has no regular clubs,
but instead travels to call weekends around the globe. He has called
in a dozen U.S. states, Canada, Germany, Sweden, and Japan. Rob specializes
in C-3B and C-4 weekends, but is known at all levels for fast, difficult,
but danceable material.
Rob first called in southern
California at the PACE Extravaganza trail-in dance in 1994, and has been
calling for Trailblazers since 2000. When not dancing or calling,
Rob is a full-time flight instructor. He lives with CJ and three
cats in Sunnyvale CA.
