Bill
Haynes of Mesa, Arizona was born in Texas and moved to New Mexico in 1957.
Upon completion of basic square dance lessons in 1959, he danced for two
years before beginning his calling career when he taught his first class.
Ever since Bill has been pursuing square dance calling and promotion of
the activity.
Bill taught school for a short time before fulfilling his Army ROTC military obligation by serving as a Platoon Leader in Korea for 2 years. He returned to Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1971 to resume both his teaching and calling careers; while teaching school he received a master's degree in Education Administration and his calling ranged from Basic through C-3B. Bill has attended several caller seminars with Bob Fisk, Melton Luttrell, Marshal Flippo, all of whom are well known callers. He has been the featured caller at many festivals in the United States and has an especially good following in the Southwestern states - Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, California, and Arizona. In 1984 Bill moved to Mesa to open up a new RV park, Carriage Manor, calling full time. He also calls for other RV parks in Mesa. In the summer months he calls at the Vallecito Resort in Durango, Colorado. Bill is a member of both
the American Callers Association and Callerlab.
